Starting A Painting
I’ve recently begun painting on a large piece of linen just to work out proportions, composition and colour. I love using Langridge oil paints for their vibrancy and pure colour, particularly zinc blue it’s so fabulous I could almost eat it, and I usually use flat wide brushes that allows the paint to flow on smoothly.
Most of the underpainting of the toys and dolls is done and I’m starting to add layers of colour to create more form. I’ve also started a sketchbook for the Brooklyn Art Library, which I hope to send off to the USA soon.
The trolley I use for my paints I bought at the Children’s Hospital (Melb.) auction a few years ago, it has a drawer in the bottom to store brushes and paints.
To read more about my use of colour choice, read about it in my Journal.
