Cadmium Yellow

It has been a slow week in the studio, but it is Monday so here is what I have been doing. I've decided on the background colour, I'm using cadmium yellow, but may alter it as it looks a little acidic.

I did a cadmium yellow background for one of the large Annunciation paintings I did a few years ago which worked well. I guess yellow is about hope and joy, and is probably appropriate for the "king" who is toppling.
