Earliest Memory

I've been painting and creating art for most of my life, and my earliest memory is of the colour of an intense bright red (the colour of fresh blood) on the crispest whitest flannelette, when I hit my forehead on the handle of my grandmother's kitchen dresser when I was a toddler. The intensity of the colour and contrast left an indelible impression and my work is about trying to achieve that intense contrast between colour and how to use that to achieve form with seemingly flat colour.
